A potentially life-changing illness has plagued country music star Randy Travis

Randy Travis has struggled to talk after his 2013 stroke. Full sentences are still beyond him.

Randy Travis sang at the Country Music Hall of Fame Medallion Ceremony Sunday night.

After Travis began singing Amazing Grace, the rapt crowd in the Hall of Fame's tiny CMA theater stood and sang along, urged by Travis' wife Mary Davis-Travis.

The audience had several talented singers, including Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Brenda Lee, Trace Adkins, Brandy Clark, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Kris Kristofferson, Brad Paisley, and Dolly Parton, who inducted the honorees and paid musical tribute to them.

“You both look great,” an admirer commented. So many individuals are inspired by Randy in so many ways! Have fun daily!Others said, "Forever and ever..."

“Randy Travis was the forefather that kind of laid it down,” Brooks said before Travis, his wife, and Brad Paisley took the stage.

Please name another artist in any genre who has taken a format, reversed it, and made it bigger. It never happened and never will.”

After performing “Forever and Ever, Amen,” Paisley told Travis, “You were a beacon of light on the radio when you first started, and you are still one of the greatest singers we’ve ever had.
