The judges' criticism of "American Idol" Season 22 is intensifying as the competition nears the Top 10, and vice versa.
With less positive than normal feedback, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie leveled the "Idol" hopefuls, including one of the season's front-runners,
as the 12 remaining contestants battled to stay in the competition on Monday night.
All of this could have been an attempt to encourage the young vocalists to "not let off the gas yet," as Bryan put it.
Twelve finalists worked with mentor Meghan Trainor to perfect their performances of #1 singles on Billboard,
in the hopes of persuading viewers that they should be in the Top 10.
Two competitors chose songs by Taylor Swift, and guess what? ABC also ran promos for her most recent album, "The Tortured Poets Department." Just a coincidence? Maybe.
