At the age of 47, Grammy winner and "American Idol" performer Mandisa passes away. 

American Idol' 2006 contestant and Grammy-winning singer Mandisa died at her Tennessee home.  

Her official social media account reported her death on Thursday, April 18. Mandisa was 47.  

On Mandisa's Instagram, the official statement said, "Mandisa died at home yesterday.   

We do not know the cause of death or other data. Please pray for her family and close friends during this difficult time.  

Mandisa encouraged and spoke truth to people confronting life's struggles worldwide."  

A preliminary cause of death is unknown, but the Franklin Police Department is investigating her unexplained demise.  

After appearing on season five of 'American Idol' with winner Taylor Hicks in 2006, Mandisa became famous.  

She released her first Christian album, 'True Beauty', in 2007 after her success on the show.
