"Blood of My Blood": The Complete Prequel Series: Everything You Need to Know

Production on Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a ten-episode series that will depict the parallel love tales of Jamie and Claire Fraser's parents, officially started in Scotland in February 2024.

Based on Diana Gabaldon's historical fantasy book series, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe play Jamie and Claire, respectively, in Starz's Outlander.

In 2014, Starz aired the 16-episode first season of Outlander. Outlander, which is based on Diana Gabaldon's 1991 book of the same name, follows World War II nurse Claire Randall as she travels back in time to Scotland's 18th century and develops feelings for Highlander Jamie Fraser.

Through her blog, Gabaldon hinted in 2022 that she was working on a prequel book, tentatively titled "A Bird in the Hand," which would follow the publication of the tenth and final Outlander book.

The release date for Outlander: Blood of My Blood is still unknown. Filming for the ten-episode series started in February 2024 in Scotland.

Since the majority of the story revolves around their parents, neither Heughan nor Balfe were announced as part of the primary cast of Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which was revealed on February 5.

Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) will play Henry Beauchamp, while Hermione Corfield (The Road Dance, We Hunt Together) will play Julia Moriston. Jamie's parents will be portrayed by Slater and Roy, and Claire's parents by Corfield and Irvine.

"Two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie's parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire's parents in World War I England," is how Starz officially describes the series Blood of My Blood.
