Deion Sanders downplays transfer out of Colorado

After 14 Colorado players entered the transfer portal this week

Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders downplayed the idea that their departures would have a big influence on the club.

"We're okay. I believe in the recruitment team. "I trust our coaches, and please have faith in me," Sanders stated. "We're good. We're all right. We're all right."

Sanders stated that backups make up the majority of the movement in the transfer portal right now, and that starters rarely enter the gateway at this time.

"I think we got some [starting-caliber players] coming in from visits pretty soon, maybe even this weekend, but we can attract those type of players," Sanders said in an interview.

"I don't believe we're losing those types of guys, and if we do, we're fine. We're good. We are making a huge deal out of nothing.

Former five-star cornerback Cormani McClain, who had a turbulent first season at Colorado, and running back Alton McCaskill, the AAC Rookie of the Year in 2021, announced their departures this week.

"I wish the best for [McClain], guy. "I really do," Sanders replied. "I want that kid to excel. I want him to step up. I want him to be the best athlete, human being, and person he can be.
