Deion Sanders Is SI’s 2023 Sportsperson of the Year

 The photo shoot, as usual, became a battle between perfectionists with cameras, lighting, and smoke machines and impatient subjects.  

 Deion Sanders fidgeted between poses.  

 The Colorado coach has his people: The entourage included his agent, the school's chancellor and sports director, and 99-year-old superfan Peggy Coppom.  

 Sanders teased his boys, social media star Deion Jr., Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur, and safety Shilo, as the photo crew examined details.  

He hugged his daughter, Colorado basketball player Shelomi, and kissed her temple.  

 He bent over to speak to small Peggy. (Peggy matches Deion's personality).  

 “I thought I was coming for the Swimsuit edition,” she said.  

Coach Prime needs to finish this Folsom Field shoot to coach again. “We’re doing one more shot,” he stated lightly but firmly.  

 One more shot became two with a new backdrop. Sanders worried about the Friday road game turnaround as he spoke ball with a visitor between shutter clicks and strobe flashes.  

 The Buffaloes were 4–6 and had lost four straight in a tough Pac-12, three by one score and two at the end.  

Sanders admitted he had forgotten his team's one loss, the Oregon game. “I moved on.
