Last spring, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell sold us the love tale we craved while marketing their humorous rom-com Anyone But You.
Their apparent chemistry onscreen, in interviews, and on the red carpet led viewers to believe they were hopelessly in love—or at least dating.
And the fact that Powell divorced from longterm girlfriend Gigi Paris during filming
and Sweeney was rarely seen with fiancé Jonathan Davino, further added to the allegations.
However, in a new interview, Powell acknowledges that it was all an act, completely calculated and arranged by Sweeney herself.
"The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry," Powell told The New York Times.
"Sydney and I have a lot of fun together, and we have a lot of natural chemistry.
People want what's on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean in a little—and it worked perfectly.
