In honor of Superman Day, James Gunn Shares Photo from the Set of the Superman Reboot

In honor of Superman Day, James Gunn—director of the impending reboot—sent fans a sneak peek from the set.

David Corenswet (as Clark Kent) and Rachel Brosnahan (as Lois Lane) are pictured with Gunn in the photo.

This well-timed reveal is also a nod to the legendary debut of the character in Action Comics issue #18 from April 18, 1938.

This trio's dedication to Superman's extensive history is on full display in the Instagram post that depicts them engrossed in several comic books.

Subtly hinting at the narrative influences inspiring this fresh take on the Superman saga, Gunn is seen holding a copy of Superman #1.

A fresh story arc will be featured in this Superman relaunch, which is set to be the first picture in the newly envisioned DC Universe.

With this picture and the animated series Creature Commandos serving as the catalyst for the introduction of a vast new cinematic world, fans are getting increasingly excited.

Having previously discussed the comic book influences on Superman, James Gunn's idea for the character seems to incorporate both modern touches and a nod to the character's iconic qualities.
