Ja Morant's comeback is Memphis' biggest offseason topic | Giannotto

Jaren Jackson Jr. thought back to all the reasons why this Memphis Grizzlies season had not gone as he had hoped, to all the injuries and disappointments that had left him all by himself.

On the court amid this team's best players and perhaps crushed his soul. How could he remain upbeat during it all?

That was the query put to him on Monday, now that this campaign from hell had officially ended and the entire organization could examine the debris.

His response's first line may have done more to illustrate the tale than anything else.

In reference to Ja Morant's moniker, Jackson remarked, "That was a low day for everybody, the day we found out about 12."

That was, of course, back in January, when Morant had surgery to treat a season-ending labrum injury that completely altered this season.

In the end, it made the Grizzlies give up any chance they had of making the playoffs.

There is still a lingering effect of this bunch being together for the final time before parting ways.
