James Gunn Teases More Retro 'Superman' Inspiration With the Original Logo

James Gunn, the director of the film Superman, has posted an Instagram photo of the 1938 logo without a caption, which is a mysterious move.

This posting doesn't come as much of a surprise because we already know that Gunn, together with Peter Safran,

will be directing the 2025 Superman film and the entire DC Universe. On July 11, 2025, theaters will welcome Superman, starring David Corenswet.

Then what is Gunn trying to say? The logo for the Superman suit has previously been seen to us in a set image, which was also shared by Gunn.

In particular, the logos' treatment of the universally recognized hope (S) symbol stands out. On the other hand, the hues have never changed.

The film's Lois Lane, played by Rachel Brosnahan, has revealed that Gunn tried on a wide variety of clothes and styles for each character.

This also makes sense, considering how common it is for heroes (and villains) to wear different outfits in different parts of comic book movies.

Above all else, this piece serves as a further allusion to the mood and ideas explored in Gunn's Superman narrative.
