Jets sign C.J. Mosley to 2-year, $17.25M deal

According to sources who spoke with ESPN's Field Yates on Thursday, the.

New York Jets and linebacker C.J. Mosley have reached an agreement on a two-year, $17.25 million contract that will provide the team more salary budget space and give Mosley more stability.

Mosley was scheduled to get a non-guaranteed $17 million in base pay in 2023, making him the defensive captain of the team.

However, his bloated cap charge of $21.5 million made him the most paid player on the squad.

The agreement between the two parties includes $13.25 million in guarantees, of which $9 million was fully guaranteed this season, and it was extended by one year.

At least $8 million in cap savings will come from the new deal, which should support the Jets' free agency hopes.

For the previous three seasons, Mosley, 31, has been a reliable player. Having participated in fifty of the team's fifty games and leading the team in tackles each season, he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2022 and the second team All-Pro in 2023.

After spending five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, he signed a five-year, $85 million contract in 2019, making him one of the greatest free agent acquisitions in team history.
