Kelly Clarkson's Cover of Chris Stapleton's "White Horse" Is Chilling

One of the biggest and most distinctive voices in contemporary country music is that of Chris Stapleton. Very few musicians could properly cover one of his tunes.

Kelly Clarkson is one of those musicians, by coincidence.

She recently demonstrated this with an emotional rendition of Chris Stapleton's number-one hit song, "White Horse." See the breathtaking performance down below.

The song was co-written by Stapleton and Dan Wilson in 2012. The song's intended placement on the 2013 film The Lone Ranger's soundtrack was the pair's original goal.

Regretfully, the song was left out of the Johnny Depp-starring film. Rather, it ended up in Stapleton's vault, where it remained for over ten years.

The song was eventually made available by Stapleton as the lead single off his most recent album, Higher, in July 2023.

The "Tennessee Whiskey" singer achieved his fourth career No. 1 at country radio earlier this year with "White Horse."

Earlier this week, Kellyoke's rendition of Stapleton's "White Horse" kicked off an edition of Clarkson's award-winning talk show.
