Kevin Costner 'loved' John Mulaney's 'Field of Dreams' Oscars bit: 'He was a genius'

If you create an exceptional "Field of Dreams" awards show bit, Kevin Costner will be happy to come and rave about it.

In an interview that was published on Sunday by People, the star of "Yellowstone" gushed over comedian John Mulaney's lengthy joke about the 1989 baseball film during last month's Academy Awards.

“I couldn’t believe that guy,” Costner told the magazine. "It is incredible. I had to give it another go.

Mulaney jokingly outlined the plot of "Field of Dreams" in considerable detail while presenting the Oscar for best sound,

mentioning one of the greatest lines in movie history as "If you build it, he will come." Costner played the role of farmer Ray Kinsella in the film, which is currently commemorating its 35th anniversary.

Costner's main character "mows down corn, and then there is a field, and then he's like, 'I'm going to watch ghosts play baseball,'"

A joke was made by Mulaney at the Oscars. 'You wish to settle your mortgage?' the bank said. He then says, "No, I'm going to watch baseball between the dead."

With the storyline out of the way, Mulaney said, "I love 'Field of Dreams,' that should win best picture, though they'll probably go with one of this year's."With the words "

I should talk to him because I was really impressed," Costner expressed his admiration for Mulaney's speech, telling People that it had a profound impact on him.
