Lainey Wilson Details Why She Almost Quit 'Yellowstone' Before Making Her Debut

The 30-year-old country singer, who plays Abby on the hit Paramount Network show, admitted on the Dutton Rules podcast that she considered leaving the show because her father was facing a health issue.

"My daddy was in the hospital while we were filming Yellowstone," Wilson informed Adison Haager. "He spent two months in the ICU in Houston, battling for his life.

She stated that she felt "on top of the world in terms of opportunities," but that she and her family were "really, really going through it."

While the "Heart Like a Truck" singer was thinking about leaving the show to be with her family, her dying father gave her some advice that helped her decide.

Lainey Wilson said her father is 'doing great' after suffering a stroke and losing an eye to infection.

Lainey Wilson 'had so much fun' seeing her acting debut in the Yellowstone season 5 premiere. "I was in Houston with my dad standing next to his bed, and I said, 'I'm not going to film.

I can't do it. "I can't do it," she recalled. "And he woke up just in time before I really made up my mind, and he said, 'I don't care if it was my funeral, if you got a job that needs to be done you'd better go do it and not come back until it's done.'"

"And so, I had to kind of pull up my bootstraps and I had to think what would he want me to do," she said. "I had to find that courage from a place I had never actually had [dug] down so deep inside."
