Less than a year after going fully woke, Sports Illustrated fires almost every member of staff.

This week, the publisher of the venerable sports magazine Sports Illustrated announced that all of the staff would be laid off, which has caused the publication to suffer a significant setback.

Authentic, the licensing group that owns SI, terminated its contract with the magazine's management, The Arena Group, according to Front Office Sports, which broke the story first on Friday.

The Arena Group said in an email to magazine employees that "Authentic Brands Group (ABG) has officially revoked the license under which the Arena Group operates the Sports Illustrated (SI) brand and SI related properties."

The statement went on, "Some employees will be terminated immediately and paid in lieu of the applicable notice period under the [union contract]."

The union representative for the employees of the sports magazine, Mitch Goldich, also submitted a statement to X pleading with Arena to keep the magazine published.

It seems that Authentic has been trying to reorganize its publishing empire while the business struggles, Front Office Sports continued.

The trans model on the 2023 issue was not the first time SI, acting under Arena's direction, used a swimsuit cover. In 2021, the magazine also selected transgender cover model Leyna Bloom.

With its ongoing caving in to the extreme left agenda, Sports Illustrated appears to be the epitome of "go woke, go broke".
