Low scores at the Masters are blown away by the wind.

Augusta, USA, April 13, 2024 BSS/AFP- Heavy gusts at Augusta National on Friday left the world's best players battling to make par on a high-scoring Masters day.

Tiger Woods encountered a mini-sandstorm at the 18th hole as the wind blew sand from the greenside bunker while Gary Woodland was about to putt.

Ludvig Aberg of Sweden shot a three-under 69 to lead the day, while Max Homa of the Netherlands shot a one-under 71.

With the huge pine trees swinging strongly, players moving back from shots as strong gusts of wind impacted them was another reminder of how challenging the course was.

"I don't think it gets any tougher than this, to be honest," remarked 58-year-old 1994 and 1999 Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal.

"You don't know where or what the wind is doing. Sometimes you guess how the ball will respond in the air.

It's hard to regulate distance and pace on the greens. I give it an 11 out of 10.

Tommy Fleetwood of England, who shot a 71, claimed there was no rest.
