Mavericks Dodge Bullet by Not Trading for Former NBA Champ

The Dallas Mavericks made smart roster additions during the busy NBA trade deadline of this year,

giving them a respectable fifth-seed in the Western Conference heading into the 2024 playoffs.

Amid rumors of massive trades, the Dallas Mavericks decided to bolster their frontcourt by adding P.J.

Washington and Daniel Gafford. Their defense, rebounding, and physicality were all improved by this choice,

and they were also set up to be one of the clear winners of the trade deadline.

Despite this, the Mavericks might have benefited more from a deal they passed on than anything else.

To start the season, Dallas expressed interest in Andrew Wiggins, a forward for the Golden State Warriors who was instrumental in the team's 2021–22 championship run.

In the eyes of many, Wiggins may be a valuable asset to the Mavericks' roster after his breakout performance in the NBA Finals, when he averaged 18.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
