New Orleans police investigating attempted murder after three people were hit by a car

New Orleans police are investigating a Saturday morning attempted murder in Tulane-Graviers. NOPD reported three victims injured by a car and taken to a hospital at 7:30 a.m.

Student-led protests at U.S. colleges and institutions over the October 2023 Israel-Hamas conflict have revived campus free speech.

The activities and suspensions of some student groups led to public congressional hearings and the resignation of two prestigious university presidents, stalling campus free speech definition.

FIRE, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, is continuing the debate. FIRE, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, promotes collegiate free speech rights nationwide.

Zach Greenberg, FIRE's senior program director for campus activism, said, “We're seeing large amounts of students professing self-censorship and the culture of free speech being deteriorated on college campuses While the law is sound

we worry about how it's enforced and how colleges are defending students' free expression rights. Student-led groups have affected federal law, especially in the 1960s and 1970s, through free speech.

Specifically, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and Nixon's 1971 26th Amendment, which decreased the federal voting age from 21 to 18.

The 1960s Civil Rights movement was fueled by heroic students like Claudette Colvin, Diane Nash, the Little Rock Nine, and the Greensboro Four, as well as student-led and founded groups like the SNCC and the Black Panther Party.
