Rams QB Jimmy Garoppolo says he 'messed up' exemption leading to PED suspension

Jimmy Garoppolo officially signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday. While in the facility, he discussed his two-game ban.

Garoppolo received a two-game suspension last month for violating the NFL's Performance Enhancing Substance Policy.

He soon determined that he was not going to contest the league's decision.

On Tuesday, Garoppolo explained briefly that quarterback was suspended for violating the NFL's Therapeutic Use Exemption.

"Just messed up the T.U.E, really," Garoppolo told The Athletic. "That was..." I made a mistake with the T.U.E. when I first arrived in Las Vegas, which I regret. "I guess it was bad timing."

Garoppolo failed in his one season with the Raiders, completing 65.1% of his passes for 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Garoppolo hopes to reignite his career in Los Angeles. It surely helps that Sean McVay, a great coach, will be on his side.

"Rams came in about midway through and I fell in love with the place," he told me. "They were direct and professional, which I appreciated, and there was no fumbling around. I'm excited to be here; it's going to be enjoyable."
