Randy Travis Honored in Louisiana Music Hall

On May 27, Randy Travis received yet another honor for his career as he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame during a special event.

LMHOF President Mike Shepard formally inducted Travis during the Cajun Country Jam Memorial Day Festival in Denham Springs, Louisiana.

Under the moniker "Randy Ray," the country music icon recorded his first studio albums at Paula Records in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Travis is one of several notable people who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, including Tim McGraw, Little Richard, Buddy Guy, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Louis Armstrong, and Lucinda Williams.

Promoter Scott Innes of Cajun Country Jam says, "Over the years, Randy Travis has made many stops and new fans along the way in the great state of Louisiana. We are delighted and honored to have had Randy on our stage!"

The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame was established in order to honor and preserve the legacy of Louisiana's music and music industry by recognizing excellence in talent, performance, writing, technical, and business aspects of the field.

It also aims to educate libraries, schools, and other interested parties about Louisiana music and artists and to perpetuate the state's legacy of excellence in music and music industry by showcasing and supporting emerging talent.

Travis is a 2016 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee with lifetime sales exceeding 25 million.
