Sam Heughan Says Filming 'Outlander' Season 8 Has Been "Bittersweet"

Whatever generation one is born into, there seems to be a fascination with the past. Outlander, a STARZ historical drama, follows the story of Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe),

a World War II nurse, and her 18th-century lover, Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). After almost a decade and many stories, time trips, and locations, Outlander's eighth and final season is being written and produced.

Heughan has been with the project since its beginning, and seeing it end has been sad.

Jamie Fraser may be the show's second-strongest character after Claire Fraser. The Land Con 6 panelist Heughan discussed how working on the final season has influenced him.

“We are filming the final season… Season 8. After three weeks of shooting, he says, "It's hard for me. Our cast read the episode together at a table, making it a unique occasion for everyone to hear it.

Outlander's stunning Scottish Highlands scenery, detailed culture, and engaging narratives, which Heughan has acquired a deep emotional attachment to, make it so appealing.

Heughan recalled a scene on a castle set where a bagpipe player played ‘The Skye Boat Song,’ the theme tune, causing him to cry.

Heughan and Balfe are synonymous with Outlander, so his sentiments about the last season make sense. There are many recollections. Over the past 11 years, I have made many close friends and created unforgettable moments. It will be tough to say goodbye. It's bittersweet, but we're happy "said.
