'Spider-Man 4' Will Be a Major First for Tom Holland

Spider-Man: No Way Home appeared to be the last film featuring the titular hero, at least in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for a while.

Despite being a high point for the franchise and a character who literally brought Spider-Man back to basics,

Tom Holland, the actor playing the character, has been outspoken in his concerns about a fourth Spider-Man movie.

Holland acknowledged that he was "a little apprehensive" about carrying on Spider-Man's story in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"The fourth one is kind of stigmatized in all franchises," he remarked.

"A part of me wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid who gets to bring this character to life because I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise."

Though Holland hasn't given up on the series entirely, his remarks seemed to be a setback to the momentum he built up as the webslinger.

In fact, he's been more committed than ever since No Way Home opened in theaters three years ago.

He's brought "a bunch of notes and ideas" to development meetings, and in a recent interview,

It seems like the actor has overcome the need to pass on the baton (though he wouldn’t say no to a team-up with a new Spider-Man, like Miles Morales, in a future film)
