‘Tales Of Kenzera: Zau’ Review

Surgent Studios, a young studio, makes a strong start with Tales of Kenzera: Zau.

The game follows the journey of a young shaman named Zuri as he strives to resurrect his father from the dead.

The story, helmed by actor Abubakar Salim (Assassin's Creed: Origins, Raised By Wolves), tells a timeless tale of loss and self-discovery.

This is a parody of Salim's voyage. Tales of Kenzera: Zau was born out of Salim's need to cope with his personal loss of a father figure.

The story, scenario design, and boss fights of the game are all based on that tragedy and the difficulty of coping with it.

The gameplay may not be groundbreaking, but it lays a good groundwork for Surgent Studios' future work and is nonetheless a lot of fun.

The location is Tales of Kenzera: Zau's strongest suit. The word Kenzera, which draws from African mythology and folklore, is full of vitality and color, yet there are fissures in the landscape.

This lovely planet is in pain. Destruction has begun as storms roar. In order to save the Great Spirits, Zau and his ally and teacher, Kalunga, the God of Death, must figure out what to do.
