Taylor Swift decodes Tortured Poets Department songs

Even though Taylor Swift has thoughts she'll never share, she's still explaining The Tortured Poets Department.

Days after her 11th studio album was released, the "Fortnight" singer provided commentary exclusively on Amazon Music that delves into some of the most complicated tracks on the album, such as the previously mentioned singles "Clara Bow" and "Florida!!!".

By declaring on their Amazon device, "I'm a member of The Tortured Poets Department," users of the streaming service may activate a special function that allows Taylor to offer her analysis on five tracks, including the album's lead single featuring Post Malone.

"‘Fortnight' is a song that exhibits a lot of the common themes that run throughout this album," she says.

"Fatalism—longing, clinging, and dashed hopes—is one of them. There are a lot of dramatic lines about life and death on this album, which makes it highly fatalistic."

It's ruining my life, I love you." These statements are incredibly theatrical and exaggerated. That type of album it is."

Afterwards, Taylor performs a breakdown of the song "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys," which she co-produced together her regular partner Jack Antonoff.

As the title implies, Taylor says the song is about "being somebody's favorite toy until they break you and then they don't want to play with you anymore."
