Taylor Swift's Vote.Org Urge Draws Record Registrations

Taylor Swift can sell out stadiums, throng movie theaters, and, as we learned this week, get out the vote.

Surprise, Swifties registered to vote in record numbers on National Voter Registration Day just days after Swift urged them to do so in an Instagram Story.

Vote.org communications director Nick Morrow tweeted on Wednesday (Sept. 20) that Swift's request sparked a flood of new registrations.

Fun fact: when @taylorswift13 posted on Instagram today urging her followers to register to vote on @votedotorg, our site averaged 13,000 users per 30 minutes.

13!” he said, noting the cosmic coincidence of the bump and the singer's favorite number.

The organization reported 35,252 new registrations on Tuesday, the most National Voter Registration Day since 2020, and 157,041 eligible voters visited the site

Voter registrations rose 22.5% from 2022, with 18-year-olds registering 72% more than in 2019 and 115% more than in 2022.

“During the day on Tuesday we saw a 1,226% jump in participation the hour after Taylor Swift posted,” stated Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey.
